The Library Board moves ahead with plans for a new library.

After nearly two years of gathering the needed approvals and permits to ultimately build a new library, the West Milford Township Library Board of Trustees closed on the 1.5 acre property, which is adjacent to the township building that will one day be the site of the township’s new library.  The signing of a purchase contract for the Finn property at 1470 Union Valley Road occurred on Tuesday, December 13, 2011.  The Library Board is excited that after a decade of searching, West Milford has a location for a new library.

Next step for the new library

Anthony Iovino with Arcari and Iovino recently completed concept plans for the new building.  These concepts plans are part of the application to the NJ Department of Environment Protection (NJDEP).  The next step in the new building process is the submission of an application to the NJDEP.

Architect information

The Library Board and staff have been visiting area libraries and gathering ideas from these libraries to use in our planning.  We have also been interviewing architects and visiting the offices of the leading candidates and as a result have recently selected the firm of Arcari and Iovino to perform concept plans and sketches for the new building.  This work is scheduled to begin in July and will involve our Library Director, Debbie Maynard and her staff as well as the entire Board.  The planning meetings will be held in Town Hall and will be open to the public.  Please join us.

Sincerely,

Douglas Ott, Library Board President
